Chris's Learning Story
Today, Chris and Greg spent time together in the sandpit, building and creating structures using buckets and spades. Chris enthusiastically showed Greg how to fill the buckets with sand and then dump them out to create a castle shape. Both boys laughed as they worked side by side, discussing what they wanted to add next and sharing materials without hesitation. The sunny day enhanced their energy, and they seemed fully engaged in their play.
This interaction illustrates Chris's growing ability to collaborate with peers and communicate effectively while playing. He listened to Greg, offered ideas, and responded positively to feedback. As they built together, Chris demonstrated not only his understanding of spatial concepts but also his emerging mathematical skills as he counted the number of buckets they used, showing a developing awareness of numbers and quantity. Their friendship appears to be strengthening, as seen in their shared laughter and encouragement during play.
To support Chris and Greg's interests further, I plan to introduce new soft toys that relate to their current play themes. I believe this will encourage their imagination and teamwork while providing opportunities for continued counting experiences as they incorporate these toys into their play. I will also facilitate group activities that build on their counting skills, like counting in fives, to enhance their learning and engagement.

"I saw Chris and Greg playing in the sandpit together. And this was something that was really good. Um. It was also on a Tuesday, the weather was sunny and um. In the morning before that, we're done choir. And if I have to think of another 30 words to say, it would be that. In the afternoon we doing baking."
