Flynn's Learning Story
I noticed you threaded pipe cleaners through holes in different metal containers. You concentrated on this task, showing persistence when it felt challenging, and you asked for help when you said, "Help Penny." I encouraged you with guidance on where to thread the pipe cleaner, and you succeeded after a bit of effort. Your focus during this activity was really impressive.
You’ve been eager to explore activities that develop your skills, such as using pipettes with water. It was tricky, and I could see you were determined as you asked for assistance again. When I modeled how to use the pipette, you were excited to try. I encouraged you by repeating, "squeeze!" as we both squeezed them. I saw how you watched your friends and kept trying even when it was hard. Your determination showed when you wanted to have your turn again.
I’ve also noticed your enjoyment of physical challenges outside, like climbing and jumping from the reels. You’ve been brave in crawling under tables and through tunnels. I’ve been describing your actions to help you connect words with your movements, and you respond with big smiles. Next, I would like to set up more activities that build on your motor skills and involve different materials, so we can continue to explore your interests in movement and hands-on activities.

"Flynn has been really keen on engaging in new experiences within the toddler room during March, and this has resulted in numerous new skills beginning to develop and be strengthened. Flynn, you have enjoyed threading the pipe cleaners through the holes in a variety of different metal containers. You have really concentrated and focused on doing this. Sometimes it has proven to be tricky and you have asked for help saying, "Help Penny." I have supported you with words of encouragement: "You can do it, Flynn. Gently thread it through here," I said on one occasion pointing at a hole to thread through. With some perseverance, you did it!"
